Calvary PCA erased the memory of a less than stellar regular season by winning two close games and upsetting the #2 seeded New Life Glenside in the first round of the playoffs. New Life had a great regular season and was missing a number of starters but battled hard in game 2 in a hard-fought game and series.

After a leadoff infield single by speedy Jimmy Adkins, PCA would nearly turn a double play on a hard line drive to the third baseman. The double play would still happen on the next play as a groundout to third base resulted in a second out at third to nab Adkins being aggressive on the base paths. PCA would start hot at the plate as they plated 6 runs on 7 hits to take a 6-0 lead into the 2nd inning. New Life would score a run in the top of the 2nd on singles by Mark, Jon, and Pete and tack on 3 more in the 3rd helped by a few PCA errors. PCA pushed across one run in the bottom of the third on a triple by Andy Hertzog and double by John Schwartz to take a 7-4 lead. The 4th and 5th innings were quiet on both sides. In the top of the 6th, New Life would make things tighter by scoring 2 runs on hits by Jon and Pete once again as well as a key RBI single from Anthony. Calvary would respond with 2 in the bottom half on a strange play in the field and aggressive running by both Hertzog and Dan Tyson to take a 9-6 lead into the last inning. After a flyout, walk, single and another flyout, pitcher Bryan Young would strikeout the last batter to end the game and the series.

Stars for PCA were Andy Hertzog (3-3, 3 R, 2 RBI, 3B) and John Schwartz (2-3, 2 RBI, 2B). For New Life, Pete led the way going 3 for 3 and Anthony and Jon both had 2 hits apiece.
