Fort Washington (AP) - As the playoffs draw closer players are getting in their vacation time to be well-rested for the main event.  Calvary played well inspite of some noteworthy absences, but was unable to stem the tide of singles afforded by the gaps in the defense.

Rob pitched well for Calvary walking two and striking out one.  Steve responded in kind with excellent pitching throughout the affair allowing no more than five batters in any one inning.  Defense was steady for both sides along with Travis (Calvary) making a couple of excellent plays at third as well as a pair of double plays.

The Kings defense was strong behind Steve's pitching and even produced the introduction of the dramatic "Shope Technique" for catching long fly balls. When asked in the post-game news conference about twice overunning fly balls only to spear them out of the air behind his head, Jon Shope (the techniques namesake), wryly remarked "It's not that big a deal, that's how everyone did it in the farm system.  Back then we did it to get on the Jumbo-tron.  Tonight I just did it to get in the post game recap."

Well-played Jon, well-played.

On Monday the Kings are away at Faith to make-up a game missed earlier in the season.  Calvary will try and restore their winning ways and host Calvary PCA Thursday.
