Calvary PCA got back on track after a tough loss to Faith on Friday with an 11-3 victory over Jarrettown Tuesday night on Mondauk #2. Both teams play home games on #2 and although the road team in this matchup, it was Calvary PCA who felt at home both at the plate and in the field. In the top of the first, after a 1-out single by Josh Tyson, Jeff Stainback got the scoring started with an RBI triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly to give PCA the early 2-0 lead. Bryan Young would strand a lead off single getting 3 fly outs to end the threat and preserve the first of 5 straight scoreless innings. After a quiet 2nd inning, PCA tacked on 2 more runs behind hits from Ethan Stainback, a walk by Josh Tyson and some good base running on fielder's choices. Jarrettown got the first 2 runners on in the bottom half of the 3rd but stranded the runners with Bryan Young getting a strikeout to end the rally. PCA rallied for 3 more runs in the top of the 4th on hits from Pete Tyson, an RBI single by Ethan Stainback (his 2nd hit of the night) and a single by Michael Vighetti. In the bottom of the 4th Jarrettown once again got runners with a single by Schuve and double by Gonzo, but a fly out to 2nd base would end the inning preserving a 7-0 PCA lead. PCA added to their lead in the 5th getting 3 straight hits from Brian Gunning, Brian Taggart, and John Schwartz to plate 2 more to make the score 9-0. Jarrettown went down 1-2-3 in the 5th. PCA would squeeze another run across in the 6th scoring Ethan Stainback (who also had his 3rd hit in the inning) on a fielder's choice. Jarrettown got on the board in the bottom of the 6th on a solo home run to deep left center by Sachs. A 2 out single by Lodo would be left stranded on base as Ethan Stainback in right-field made a fantastic catch on a screaming low line drive hit by Early to end the inning and pump up the PCA fans. Once again, playing small ball and using smart base running, PCA tacked on another run in the 7th to take an 11-1 lead into the back half of the 7th. Jarrettown would not go quietly as the bats woke up with 2 outs and Ron Meyers cracked a 2-RBI single scoring Gonzo and Renn. But, a fielders choice to shortstop tossing to 2nd base to force out the runner ended the threat and the game.

MVP of the game for Calvary PCA (and arguably the game) was 16-yr-old Ethan Stainback who went 3 for 3, scored 2 runs, had an RBI, and also made a spectacular inning ending catch in right field. Michael Vighetti, John Schwartz, and Pete Tyson each had 2 hits and 11 of Calvary PCAs 12 hitters notched a base hit. Bryan Young was solid on the mound walking only 1, getting a strikeout and scattering 9 hits. For Jarrettown, Sachs was 2 for 2 with a HR and lead off hitter Lodo was 2 for 3.
