Fort Washington (AP) – They won!  The resurrected Kings won!  Although not coming as much of a surprise in a Christian men’s softball league, nevertheless the clouds parted, the rainbows descended and Chelten Baptist witnessed the miracle.

After a heroic effort late last month against Calvary PCA that came up short, the Kings jumped out to a 13-3 lead two innings into the game.  Tim Stonehouse provided impressive fireworks with a full-count, bases-loaded home run in the second.  Not to be outdone Alan Gay posted a late-game 2-run shot that effectively put the game away in the sixth.

Steve Brandenburg again pitched well as the 10 hits surrendered were few and far between rendering Chelten’s offense inconsistent.  Scott pitched well for Chelten, even notching a string of four straight outs mid-game.  Chelten’s roster included a couple of first-time players who provided great efforts both offensively and defensively as well as affirming the solid minor league development program at Chelten.

The Kings spread 25 hits throughout the order and in addition to Tim and Alan’s long balls, Jimmy Adkins and Josh Chapman contributed doubles.

In an unrelated development, an unnamed Kings front office source released the following statement regarding the delay for last week’s game recap and the missing recap of the Calvary PCA game, “We regret to announce the passing of Prince the carrier pigeon April 28th.  The beloved Prince was struck and killed by the 8:33p R2 out of Warminster while delivering the recap to us for publication.  An internal review noted several inefficiencies in our recap publication procedure which should be rectified as the season progresses.”

Unofficially, the unnamed source commented that “it was about time, as the 21st century has been around for over 16 years” and “we’ll finally get to unbox our iPhone 8s”.

Repeated attempts to contact SEPTA to corroborate the accident proved futile.

A memorial for Prince will be scheduled and announced later this month.
