Fort Washington (AP) - Pristine softball weather persisted throughout most of the day Tuesday but gave way to the more familiar and blustery April mid-50 temps by game time.  The weather did nothing to cool Jarretown as their hot bats remained and lifted them to the top of table while driving the returning Kings to the bottom.

The Kings were again playing on the road but were able to jump out early and plated the first four batters.  Jarrettown weathered the intial onslaught  by mid-order and replied confidently with four runs of their own.  The first inning revealed a crack in the Kings armor though, the elusive third out.  Three times the Kings inability to close the inning or perhaps Jarretown's tenacious hitting would allow eight two-out runs home.

The hitting was steady throughout the affair despite the 20+ mph gusts blowing in from left field denying both right-hand heavy orders much extra-base success, but the conditions played well into the lefties in the middle of Jarretown's lineup.  The Kings tried to deny their influence with near-cartoonish outfield shifts, but Jarrettown pesevered providing almost half of their total runs.

Steve Brandenburg relieved Josh Chapman again in the fourth but was unable to stop the Jarretown juggernaught.  Steve Daly, Dan Johnson and Mark Hood would each go 3 for 3.  Jason Angstadt would turn a nice double play in the 5th while Jimmy Adkins jealously made all of the outs in the 4th culminating in a nice running over the shoulder grab to close the inning.  Not to be outdone, Mark Hood, called out of free agency, made or attempted several acrobatic catches in a not too veiled attempt to impress the front office.

Intrepid fans from both teams who braved the cold conditions enjoyed "Chocolate Chip Cookie Day" on the sidelines much to the delight of the younger crowd.  Kings open at home next week against Calvary PCA, while Jarrettown journeys to Faith.
