Fort Washington, Pa. - In a rematch of last year's semifinals matchup, which went the full three-game series, Calvary PCA and Trinity took the field on Wednesday evening at Mondauk #5. The humidity cleared out from the storm the night prior but it was still a hot night. Andy Miller toed the rubber for Trinity against PCA's Bryan Young.

PCA came out firing in the top of the first. Mike Vighetti and Andy Hertzog started the inning off with a pair of singles. After a groundout to third base, Devon Bailey smoked a ball to deep left center for a two-run triple. Bailey would come around to score on a Jeff Stainback sacrifice fly and PCA held a 3-0 lead from the start. In the bottom of the first, Bud Brodhag would triple but was left stranded at third and PCA held their lead going into the second inning.

Dan Tyson started the top of the second with a single to left field. The next batter, John Schwartz, would hit a hard line drive to left center but Tim Brodhag made a nice play to get to the ball in the air was able to double the runner off at first on a great throw to limit PCA's second inning threat. Trinity rode that momentum into the bottom of the second as Mark Wasson would start the inning off with a double. Andy Miller then followed with an infield single and Jeremiah Lapp would then double home Trinity's first run. After a pop-up and an RBI groundout, Isaac Mansor singled home the tying run and going into the third inning, the game was knotted up at 3.

After Miller worked around a two-out single by Vighetti to escape the third, Trinity's bats exploded for eight runs over their next two innings highlighted by fifth inning homeruns from Tim Brodhag and Mark Wasson. In the top of the fifth, PCA would get three runs back with six singles in the inning and it was 11-6 heading into the bottom of the fifth. PCA held Trinity to only a Mike Verillo double in the bottom half of the inning. However one inning later, Trinity was able to tack on two more runs from a two-run single from Miller. Ron Slagle and Pete Tyson started the top of the seventh with two singles. The next batter lined out to Mark Wasson who was able to double the runner up at second. After a walk by Vighetti, Miller was able to induce a flyout to centerfield to end the game and Trinity took game one, 13-6.

For Trinity, Wasson and Miller led the way at the plate with four hits each. Wasson providing the thunder with a double and homerun. Tim Brodhag also had a homerun and a double on the night. Lapp, Dan Bergvall, and Brent Fornwalt all provided multi-hit games as well. For PCA, Vighetti was 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
