After rain postponed the first date to begin their playoff matchup, Calvary PCA and the New Life Kings squared off at an unfamiliar location in North Willow Grove Park on Wednesday evening.

New Life got things going, scoring a run in each of the first two innings, with Schyler and Josh providing the RBI hits. After a 1-2-3 inning in the third, the Kings extended the lead in the fourth. An RBI groundout from Zach was followed with run-scoring singles from Bret and Dan. After three runs on the inning, New Life was up 5-0. The teams traded scoreless turns at-bat to take that margin into the sixth.

Calvary had managed 7 baserunners across the first five innings, three times threatening with two baserunners, but Kings defense had shut down each threat. In the sixth, Calvary was not to be denied.

Following a hit and flyout, the next 7 Calvary batters reached base, and the visitors plated 6 runs to take their first lead of the game.

The Kings produced two hits with two outs in the bottom frame, but couldn't scratch across a run. New Life defense hunkered down in the seventh for a 1-2-3 inning, bringing up a final chance to score down by one. Hits by Bret and Josh put runners on the corners with one out, and Luke drew a four-pitch walk. Calvary pitcher Bryan induced a pair of pop-ups to strand the bases loaded and end the game.

Bryan Y knocked in two runs, with the other RBI coming from Travis, Dan, Devon, and Pete.

The Kings' extra-base hits came from Schyler, Steve, and Josh. Each of those three, as well as Bret and Dan, turned in two-hit performances.
