Fort Washington, Pa. - Jarrettown and the first-place Trinity Knights took the field on Monday evening in game one of their first round series at Mondauk Common. During the regular season, they split their season series as Trinity won their first matchup handedly by the score of 20-4 and in their second matchup, Jarrettown staved off the Trinity offense and won 7-2.

Ernie Bergvall toed the rubber against Jarrettown pitcher, Ron in game one of this quarterfinals series. It did not take long for Jarrettown to get on the board as the first batter of the game, Nick, hit a long fly ball over the right fielder for a triple and would score by way of an error on the relay from the outfield to give Jarrettown the 1-0 lead. Trinity answered in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own as Mike Verillo and Tim Brodhag singled to start the inning. They would come around to score on a Dan Bergvall sacrifice fly and a Spencer Turkot single, respectively to give Trinity a 2-1 lead that they would never relinquish.

Trinity scored two runs in both the second and third innings and they blew it open in the their half of the fifth when they scored six runs with two outs. It started with a bases loaded, two-run single from Isaac Mansor and was followed up by three consecutive hits producing four more runs, highlighted by a two-run triple from Tim Brodhag. Jarrettown would answer with two runs of their own in the top of the sixth and Ernie Bergvall was able to strand runners on second and third to end the inning and keep the Jarrettown offense from garnering more runs. Stu Saks would come on in the seventh to record a 1-2-3 inning and Trinity won game one, 12-3.

For Trinity, there were eighteen hits spread across the offense but the effort was led by Tim Brodhag, Spencer Turkot, and Jeremiah Lapp, who all went 3-for-4. Tim Brodhag (triple) and Turkot (double) provided the only extra base hits on the day for Trinity. Mike Verillo and Brent Fornwalt each had two hits as well in the win. Nine different Trinity hitters produced RBIs in the game. For Jarrettown, Brian went 3-for-3 and Greg reached base twice. The series continues tonight (Tuesday, 7/10) at Mondauk #2.
