Fort Washington, Pa. - Game one of the first round playoff series between number two seed, Faith Community, and number seven seed, New Life Kings, began on Friday night at Mondauk Common. During the regular season, Faith defeated the Kings, 9-5, in their only meeting. Both teams were ready to go after getting rained out on Monday evening.

The Kings got on the board in the top of the first as Steve Brandenburg singled home Tim Stonehouse. Faith answered in the bottom of the first as Spencer Turkot provided an RBI single and after one inning it was knotted up at one. It was quiet until the bottom of the third when Mark Wasson started the inning off with an infield single. Tim Brodhag followed with a double and Bud Brodhag brought them both home with a two-run single giving Faith the lead. Faith would tack on another run on a Turkot sacrifice fly and they should have had another run but the umpire claimed that the runner on third left early on what would have been a sacrifice fly from Andy Miller. The Kings appealed and the umpire ruled that the runner had left early.

After Faith tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fifth on another run scoring single from Bud Brodhag, the Kings put up a crooked number in the top of the sixth as they pushed three runs across the plate. Pete Yoon and Tim Stonehouse started the rally off with a single each. Steve Brandenburg then doubled home two runs to get the Kings to within two. Seth Brandenburg then followed that with his own RBI single to get the Kings to within one. Andy Miller then struck out two of the next three batters to get Faith out of the jam and preserve the lead.

After Faith went down quietly in their half of the sixth, the Kings went right back to it. With one out, Tim Earnest singled down the left field line. Jimmy Adkins then followed that with a single. Faith then recorded the next out but up stepped Stonehouse. He smoked a ball into center field which easily scored one run to tie the game. As Adkins rounded third, the relay throw came into home and he was in a short-lived run-down as the ball got away from Faith and the Kings took the lead in the top of the sixth. However, in the bottom of the seventh the first three batters took care of business for Faith. Tim Metz and Isaac Mansor both started the inning off with singles. Mark Wasson then smoked a ball over the head of the outfielder for a walk-off triple and a game one victory.

Wasson paced Faith on the night as he went 3-for-4. Bud Brodhag (3 RBI), Dan Bergvall, and Metz all had two hits a piece on the night as well. Andy Miller pitched well on the mound as he recorded three strikeouts. For the Kings, Stonehouse was 3-for-4 with a double and Steve Brandenburg was 2-for-4 with a double. Game two of the series is on Monday evening at Mondauk 5.
